Distance learning is exciting! You can find distance schools for almost anything, from help with home schooling, to PhD programs:

There are K-6 th grade online distance learning resources for home-schooling parents. These resources are often catered to a specific philosophy of education or support specific religious beliefs.
There are also distance-learning high schools which can help with home-schooling, offer make-up classes for struggling students, provide another road to a high school diploma, or give students an opportunity for college prep and college credit courses. What kind of person does well in distance learning? The first ingredient in distance learning is motivation. If you have the desire, then distance learning gives you a great opportunity to succeed. You will probably be able to find a distance school that will help you to meet your learning goals. Some distance-learning schools offer self-paced classes which you can adjust to the time you have available to learn. Other schools have a timeline like a traditional school.

But the key with distance learning schools is that you are the one who determines how well you learn. No one can afford to be a passive distance-learner. The most successful distance learners will set out clear long term goals for their learning and make sure that they produce something tangible for each of those goals.

For example, a carpentry certificate from a distance learning school will be much more valuable if the student can produce excellent examples of carpentry work that he/she did while earning the certificate, or better yet if the student has work experience in carpentry. In distance learning, you will need to do more than just complete the assignments that your teacher or school assigns. You will need to ask yourself at each step of the learning process: “Do I really know this material?” and if you don't, you will want to take the initiative to make sure that do you learn it well.
